Courchevel airport transfer with a private driver

Both directions: airport → resort and resort → airportChambéry 1h30, Lyon 2h15, Geneva 2h15, Moûtiers 40 minSnow-equipped vehicle, room for skis

With France Chauffeur, the transfer is booked in both directions. Going up, a single vehicle takes you from the airport — or from Moûtiers station — to your chalet in Courchevel 1550, 1650 or 1850. Coming down, your driver collects you outside your accommodation at a time worked back from your flight or train. A driver who knows the Tarentaise, a vehicle equipped for winter, and a price fixed before departure.

Four airports and a station: how to reach Courchevel

Courchevel is one of the best-connected resorts in the Alps, but the nearest airport is not always the most practical.

  • Chambéry-Savoie (CMF) — 110 km, about 1h30. The shortest drive, but an essentially seasonal flight schedule.
  • Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS) — 185 km, about 2h15. The widest choice of flights, including long-haul connections.
  • Geneva (GVA) — 150 km, about 2h15. Heavily used by British and northern European visitors.
  • Grenoble (GNB) — 160 km, about 2h. Mainly seasonal charter traffic.
  • Moûtiers station — about 40 minutes of climb. The TGV and direct Eurostar option, in high demand on Saturdays.

Courchevel does have its own altiport, but it only takes private aviation: for a commercial flight, a road transfer is the only way up.

The last 25 kilometres are what count

As far as Moûtiers the journey is straightforward valley motorway. Everything changes after that.

The climb to Courchevel rises from 500 m to over 1,800 m in 25 km of hairpin bends, frequently snow-covered and sometimes icy first thing in the morning. It is not a road to discover for the first time on a stormy evening with four passengers and a boot full of skis.

Our drivers make this climb regularly. They know where the surface deteriorates, when to fit chains, and which chalet approaches become impassable after snowfall. That is precisely where a private transfer differs from a hire car.

1300, 1550, 1650, 1850: your exact address matters

Courchevel is not one resort but four villages staggered up the mountain, and the drop-off is nothing alike between them.

  • Le Praz (1300) — at the foot of the resort, easy access year-round.
  • Village (1550) — five minutes higher, with tighter parking.
  • Moriond (1650) — the sunny side, reached by a separate road.
  • Courchevel 1850 — the highest, with strict traffic rules in the resort centre and some private chalet approaches.

Give us the exact address rather than simply « Courchevel ». We plan the route, and if the final approach is not passable we agree a drop-off point with you before the day of the transfer.

How is the price of a Courchevel transfer set?

Only three things matter:

  • The starting point — the gap between Moûtiers station (40 min) and Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (2h15) is considerable.
  • The vehicle — saloon, van for groups and equipment, or a higher class.
  • The season — peak-season changeovers place different demands on our drivers.

The fare is quoted before you book, and it is firm. The same principle as our Paris airport transfers: the price quoted is the price paid.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about transfers to Courchevel

Airports, Moûtiers station, resort levels: what our customers ask before booking.

Chambéry-Savoie (CMF) is the closest at around 110 km, roughly 1h30. Then come Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (185 km, 2h15), Geneva (150 km, 2h15) and Grenoble (160 km, 2h). Chambéry is the shortest drive, but its flight schedule is heavily seasonal — for most travellers Lyon or Geneva is the realistic entry point.

Yes: Le Praz (1300), Village (1550), Moriond (1650) and Courchevel 1850. Each level has its own access roads and parking restrictions. Give us the exact address of your chalet or hotel when booking — the route differs between 1550 and 1850.

The final 25 km, from Moûtiers up to the resort, is a hairpin mountain road climbing from 500 m to over 1,800 m. It is the most demanding part of the journey, and the reason a driver who knows the Tarentaise matters more than one passing through.

Yes, and it is one of our most requested runs. Many travellers arrive by TGV or direct Eurostar at Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains and drive up from there. The station to Courchevel transfer takes around 40 minutes. Your driver meets you on the platform or outside the station, as agreed.

Yes. In the Tarentaise, the French Loi Montagne II requires winter equipment from 1 November to 31 March. Our vehicles run winter tyres throughout the period, with chains on board — not a formality on the Courchevel climb.

Yes, if you tell us when booking. A ski bag takes the place of two suitcases: for four people with equipment and a week of luggage, the Mercedes V-Class van (up to 7 passengers, 6 large cases) is the right vehicle.

Saturday is changeover day across the Three Valleys, concentrating traffic in the Tarentaise valley and on the climb. A 1h30 journey can take 2h30 to 3h. We do not promise midweek timings on a February Saturday: we move the pickup earlier and tell you so at booking.

Your flight number lets us track the actual landing and adjust the pickup, at no extra cost. 60 minutes of waiting time are included, counted from the adjusted pickup time.

It depends on the departure airport or station, the vehicle and the season, and it is quoted before you book. The price is firm: neither Saturday traffic nor a delayed flight will change it.
